Congratulations to the Fresh Look Community Spotlight Award Recipient!

At Fresh Look, we always strive to put the needs of our clients first and we are passionate about our mission: to be the premier investment-minded real estate brokerage in the Pacific Northwest. But we are more than just an awesome real estate firm. We are a part of the Western Washington community – which gives us the responsibility to look out for our neighbors and always seek out ways to give back.
Day in and day out, Fresh Look’s brokers go above and beyond in so many ways. They work to exceed their clients’ expectations. They volunteer their time and talents to their local community. They step up to help their team members. They find unique and meaningful ways to effect change, both large and small. We are so excited about the things that they are doing for our clients and our community and we wanted to find a way to thank them and share their stories.
Beginning this month, we will highlight the community involvement work of one of our brokers each month and honor them with our new award: The Fresh Look Community Spotlight Award. The honoree will receive some great prizes and members of our community will get to hear about the work they are doing to better this beautiful place we all get to call home.
Our first Community Spotlight Award recipient is Abby Romero. Abby is a broker based in the South Puget Sound area and this year she accepted the call to become the President of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP) Seattle Chapter. Abby chose to serve on this Board because of her desire to help real estate agents succeed in their careers and help communities of color increase their wealth through home ownership.
NAHREP’s mission is to empower and educate the real estate professionals and help increase homeownership amongst Hispanics. Advocating for government programs that help communities of color afford homes in this ever-increasing competitive marketplace is also an essential area of focus within the NAHREP organization.
Abby said that she is a strong believer in the approach that when we help each other (including our competitors) then all boats rise and when we are given the opportunity to be a voice for others, then we should rise to the occasion. Abby understands that when communities of color buy homes, the lower and middle classes can fulfill jobs that support the growth of the community and we all win.
Her dedication to educating others in building financial wealth through real estate also led her to begin teaching both English and Spanish home buying seminars sponsored by the Washington State Housing Finance Commission (WSHFC). These seminars educate attendees on everything there is to know about the homebuying process. Once completed, the attendee can access loans and grants to help with down payment and closing costs.
In addition to serving the NAHREP trade association, Abby also represents the Hispanic community in efforts such as the Coalition for Affordable Housing and the Master Builders Association of Pierce County. And she is leading radio segments on 93.7 FM that work to educate the Hispanic community about buying, selling and investing in real estate.
When Abby was asked what motivates her to give so much of her time and energy to help others she said, “When we serve ourselves first and then give others what remains, then our selfishness comes through. However, when we offer something of value first, we feel good, and we establish trust and rapport with those we serve. About 90% of my business is referral business, which shows how important it is to be involved, be a voice for others, give first, educate and advocate. In the long run, you will reap loyal clients that give you referrals… and your soul will feel good too.”
Congratulations, Abby for being the very first recipient of Fresh Look Real Estate’s Community Spotlight Award and thank you for everything you do to give back to our community!
